  • Governor Dodge State Park: stunning scenery, two lakes with beaches, waterfalls, nature trails, ice cream shop

Winery Visit: Botham Vineyards

Day 1: - Governor Dodge State Park to Devil's Lake State Park

Mileage: 60 miles

Pass Through Towns and Attractions:

  • Taliesin: Frank Lloyd Wright Center, architecture school, tours, cafe, bookstore, gift shop
  • Arena: Arena Cheese Factory, restaurants, parks, Lake Louie Brewery (tour on own)
  • Mazomanie: restaurants, historic downtown, parks, gallery
  • Prairie du Sac/Sauk City: restaurants, along the WI river, historical museum, original Culver's, antique shops, Wollersheim Winery
  • Merrimac: ice cream stand, ferry, park
  • Parfrey's Glen: beautiful natural area
  • Devil's Lake State Park: lake, great beaches, walking trails, beautiful quartzite bluffs

Day 2: - Devil's Lake State Park to Mirror Lake State Park

  • North Freedom: Mid-Continent Railway (historic outdoor museum)
  • Mirror Lake State Park: trails, boat rentals

Day 3: - Mirror Lake/Portage/Mirror Lake Loop

Mileage: 45 miles (can customize)

  • Wisconsin Dells: water parks, restaurants, shopping, International Crane Foundation, casino, Wisconsin Dells Duck tour, Aldo Leopold Foundation (most energy efficient building in the United States), golf courses, magician shows, ski shows, boat rides, Port Huron Brewery (tour on own), Moose Jaw Brew Pub (tour on own)
  • Portage: historic buildings, museums, Center for the Arts, restaurants, Amish communities, barn quilts

Day 4: - Mirror Lake State Park to Blue Mound State Park

Day 5: - Blue Mound State Park to Dodgeville

  • Mt. Horeb: trollway, dining, galleries, historical museum, Little Norway, Cave of the Mounds
  • Blue Mounds: Blue Mound State Park, Cave of the Mounds, Little Norway (between Blue Mound and Mount Horeb)

  • Hyde: Hyde's Mill
